Akasa Air adds Varanasi as the 14th destination to its growing network

Akasa Air will connect Varanasi-Bengaluru with two daily flights, strengthening its footprint in the state of Uttar Pradesh

Akasa Air, India’s newest airline, today announced the addition of its 14th destination – Varanasi to its fast-growing network. The airline will operate non-stop daily flights between Varanasi and Bengaluru starting 18th February 2023 with a ramp-up of frequency on the route from 1st March 2023. Varanasi will also be connected to Goa by a daily flight via Bengaluru (with no change of aircraft required at Bengaluru) providing seamless one-stop connectivity between the two popular tourist hubs.

The launch to Varanasi will be Akasa Air’s second destination in Uttar Pradesh, after flights from Lucknow connecting Mumbai and Bengaluru started at the end of December 2022. Within six months of commencing operations, the airline has built a strong national presence with its growing network connecting metros to tier 2 and tier 3 cities, with a fleet expansion plan that adds one new aircraft in operation every 15 days.

Commenting on the announcement, Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, of Akasa Air, said, “We are delighted to strengthen our nationwide connectivity and announce our second destination in Uttar Pradesh with Varanasi. This is the 14th destination on our fast-expanding network. The city is a popular cultural hub of India and a place of pilgrimage for many devotees.’

Since its launch in August 2022, Akasa Air has carried over 1 million revenue passengers and crossed the milestone of operating over 575 weekly flights with an announced network of 21 unique routes connecting 14 cities, namely Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati, Agartala, Pune, Visakhapatnam, Lucknow, Goa, Hyderabad, and Varanasi.
