Sarovar Hotels and Resorts participate at 10th international Abilympics

The 10th International Abilympics (Olympics of Abilities), the global skills competition for persons with disabilities (PWDs) was held in Metz, France between 23rd – 26th March 2023. The event is aimed at creating public awareness and nurturing the productive talent of differently-abled people by providing them with opportunities to acquire and enhance their vocational skills to achieve economic independence.

Farukh Shiekh, from Effcee Sarovar Portico, Bhavnagar was a part of the 13-member Divyangan contingent from India that participated in the Abilympics, under the Restaurant Service Skill category. The contingent was led by Jitender Aggarwal, Secretary General National Abilympic Association of India (NAAI) and Founder, of Sarthak Educational Trust, a non-profit organization, engaged in mainstreaming Persons with Disability through vocational skilling and placement since 2008.

Accompanied by Farukh, Narender Singh, the Corporate Chef of Sarovar Hotels & Resorts was also present as the only Indian jury member in the Patisserie & Confectionery Skills category.

Nihar Mehta, General Manager – Human Resources, Sarovar Hotels Pvt. Ltd. said “From the very start, Farukh Sheikh has been very positive in his approach and has been appreciated by NAAI and Sarthak Foundation. He is a diligent person. Further to this, Narender Singh’s coming on board as a jury member at Abilympics is quite commendable. Our well-deserving colleagues have made us extremely proud.”

Selection of Narender Singh as a member jury at the 10th International Abilympics was another feather in the cap for NAAI.”
