Ease on Covid-19 testing rules by China

The Covid-19 testing standards set by the Chinese government have been loosened for all foreign newcomers. Beginning on April 29, visitors to the nation will be permitted to submit to a lateral flow test 48 hours before to boarding their flight in place of a PCR test. Travellers must declare their negative test results by completing the Health Declaration Form on the China Customs website, China Customs App, or WeChat account, according to an updated travel warning from the UK Foreign Office.

Test results will no longer be verified by airline personnel, although upon arrival in China, customs personnel may still do so. Travellers arriving in China who are showing signs of fever or who have a health declaration that is “abnormal” may additionally be required to perform a quick antigen test.

While self-isolation is not required, those who test positive will be asked to wear a mask and might be advised to do so as long as symptoms persist. After being closed to foreign travellers for three years owing to the Covid-19 outbreak, China reopened its borders to them in January for the first time. Gary King, head of trade sales at Wendy Wu Tours, commented on the easing of admission requirements for China and called the decision a “game changer” for the country’s tourism industry.

Travellers who have been anxious to experience China’s rich history, culture, and natural beauties now have a perfect opportunity to do so, he continued. “Everything is open and operating normally, and what’s more, the major landmarks and tourist attractions, like the beautiful Great Wall, are currently eerily quiet. Since China reopened, there has been an increase in interest, and we would advise agents to support China wholeheartedly at this time because there is definitely a market.
