A study shows 84 per cent of Indians daydreamed about travelling once each week

According to a poll, the majority of Indian respondents (three-fourths) were discovered to be “day-dreaming” about travel at least once a week.

1,000 Indians with an annual family income of USD 20,000 were included in the poll, which was conducted in mid-January under the direction of worldwide card giant American Express.

According to the seven-nation poll, 84% of respondents from India expressed the most interest in travel in the future.

The report, according to Manoj Adlakha, chief executive of American Express Banking Corp. India, indicates unmet travel demand and several regionally specific behaviour.

According to him, 91% of Indian respondents are open to picking a vacation or experience that benefits the neighbourhood, demonstrating their awareness of the pandemic’s effects on the tourist sector and their desire to contribute in recovery.

According to Adlakha, the business has noticed comparable patterns in cardholder inquiries to our concierge desks as well.

Goa, New Delhi, Jaipur, Rishikesh, and Mumbai are among the most popular domestic vacation destinations for Indians from Holi to Easter, according to statistics provided by travel website Booking.com.

According to the report, hotels receive the most reservations, followed by resorts, guest houses, hostels, and homestays.

“While travel in 2020 was challenging for all of us, there is yet hope for the future.

Ritu Mehrotra, the company’s regional manager for South Asia, stated, “We are seeing an increased desire to travel where travellers are utilising long weekends to make travel plans across the country.”
