The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has granted regulatory approval to Malaysia Aviation Group’s (MAG) airlines, which include Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and MASwings, to enable Gate-to-Gate connectivity for passengers on its airlines, making them the first to offer this feature to passengers leaving Malaysia.
When ‘flight mode’ is enabled, travellers will be comfortable being connected to their personal/portable electronic devices (PEDs) the entire time they travel, from the moment they board the aircraft until they arrive at their destination airport, starting on July 1, 2023. As per regulatory and aircraft requirements, passengers will no longer be required to turn off their PEDs during takeoff and landing. Mobile phones, tablets, and other small hand-held gadgets that fit in the passenger seat pocket are examples of PEDs.
In addition, starting July 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023, Malaysia Airlines will provide free Wi-Fi to all travellers in Business Suite and Business Class as well as Enrich Platinum members, regardless of their class of travel. There will be 20 Wi-Fi-equipped planes in total where the offer is offered. The substantial data ceiling of 100 MB per sector and bandwidth of up to 512 kbps included in the plan guarantees that customers may stay connected and productive throughout their vacation.
“We are committed to providing exceptional customer service and innovative travel experiences that place customers at the centre of everything we do,” stated Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, Chief Executive Officer of Airlines from MAG. Gate-to-gate connectivity across all of our airlines enables travellers to stay connected throughout their journey with us, whether it’s to stay in touch with loved ones while they’re travelling or even to complete some work. To give our devoted customers a better in-flight experience, we will actively increase the number of our aircraft outfitted with Wi-Fi as part of our connectivity plan. We are committed to enhancing the accessibility and enjoyment of air travel for all of our passengers by placing a special emphasis on safety, comfort, and convenience. As guests in our “home,” we will continue to make investments in cutting-edge technologies and services to satisfy changing needs and give our passengers comfort.
MAG will launch a number of product enhancement initiatives to improve the overall cabin experience in addition to continuing to take proactive steps to improve the customer experience across all touchpoints. With passenger comfort and safety as its primary considerations, the whole in-flight experience will be modernised, from seating to in-flight entertainment.
