After the flight from Tiruchirappalli took off at about 10:45 am, the airport authority in Thiruvananthapuram declared a major emergency. Due to mechanical issues, an Air India Express flight carrying 154 people from Tiruchirappalli to Sharjah made an emergency landing at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.
When the aeroplane left Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu at around 10:45 am, the airport management declared a major emergency at the International Airport.
At around midday, a Thiruvananthapuram-bound flight made a safe landing, according to an Air India representative. The airline added that there were 154 passengers on board and that the landing was precautionary.
“Flight IX613, operating between Tiruchirappalli and Sharjah on 31 July 2023, made a precautionary landing at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. The decision was taken due to a technical snag post-takeoff. The airline clarifies that this was not an emergency landing. We regret the inconvenience caused to guests on board. Our team is making alternative arrangements for their travel,” said the spokesperson of Air India Express.
