Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board’s Participation in India Travel Mart, Varanasi
Focus on Kashi-Ujjain Connectivity and New Tourism Circuits
The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board will be actively participating in the India Travel Mart (ITM), to be held at Deendayal Hastkala Sankul, Varanasi, from October 17 to 19. Five key stakeholders from Madhya Pradesh’s tourism sector will also take part in this mart. This event will serve as a significant platform for promoting tourism between Madhya Pradesh and other states.
Various aspects of tourism will be discussed during the event, with a special focus on connectivity to tourist destinations both within and outside the state. The Principal Secretary of the Department of Tourism and Culture and Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, Mr. Shiv Shekhar Shukla, stated, “We are committed to taking Madhya Pradesh’s tourism sector to new heights, both nationally and internationally. Our participation in events like India Travel Mart gives us the opportunity to prominently showcase our tourism products and facilities. Both Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are culturally and spiritually rich. The Mahakal Express has played an important role in directly connecting Kashi and Ujjain, allowing travelers to also visit Indore and Omkareshwar from Ujjain. This will boost religious tourism and improve connectivity within the state.”
Introduction of New Tourism Circuits
To promote tourism between Madhya Pradesh and Varanasi, two major circuits have been developed. Tourists can explore the route from Varanasi to Sanjay Dubri, Maihar, Rewa, Mukundpur, and Chitrakoot by road, or the Varanasi-Orchha-Khajuraho-Panna-Chitrakoot circuit. These circuits will offer travelers a mix of religious, cultural, and natural tourism experiences, boosting interstate tourism. International tourists can also choose travel routes from Gwalior, Orchha, Khajuraho, Panna, and Rewa to Prayagraj and Varanasi.
Enhanced Connectivity with Rewa Airport
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan, air connectivity in the state is continuously improving. The Rewa airport will be inaugurated by Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 21, which will significantly strengthen air connectivity in the region. Principal Secretary Mr. Shukla said, “The inauguration of Rewa Airport will make travel between the tourism regions of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh easier and more accessible. This will prove to be an important step in developing interstate tourism circuits between the two states.”
