Thailand reaches milestone of 2 million travellers from India

Thailand has reached a new height in its tourism sector, welcoming 2 million tourists from India in a calendar year for the first time. This remarkable achievement is a testament to Thailand’s enduring popularity among Indian travellers and its successful recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, Thailand had come close to achieving this milestone in 2019, with nearly 2 million Indian tourists visiting the country.

To build on this momentum, Thailand is introducing a range of initiatives tailored to appeal to Indian tourists. These include hosting cultural events that showcase the country’s rich heritage, such as Holi celebrations in March, a Thai-Indian music festival in Chiang Mai, and Diwali celebrations. Additionally, direct flights will be launched between tier 2 cities in India and Thailand, making travel more convenient and accessible. Esteemed delegates, including Thapanee Kiatphaibool, the governor of Thailand tourism, and Sorawong Thienthong, the tourism and sports minister of Thailand, were present to receive the lucky tourist, Mr. Chetan Gupta from Delhi.
