West Bengal is all geared up for the celebration of Durga Puja 2022

This year, the state of West Bengal is geared up and ready to celebrate its largest festival –  The Durga Puja or The Great Autumn Festival.

A four-day mega carnival from 1st to 5th October 2022 hailing the homecoming of the Mother Goddess Durga along with her four children. The whole of West Bengal will be in a riot of lights, colors, and festivity, celebrating the victory of Divine power over the Demon Mahishasura. Clay idols of the Goddess are worshipped in aesthetically designed temporary structures called pandals. This year this unique annual festival has achieved a very special significance after its global recognition as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2021.

This Durga Puja, the State Tourism Department of West Bengal in association with the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Kolkata Police has introduced online pandal hopping passes exclusively for the tourists visiting the city of joy to explore the festivities during the great autumn festival.  The idea is to facilitate the recognized tour operators to ensure seamless movement of both domestic and international tourists exploring 49 leading community pujas pandals across the city of joy. The QR-based passes are available online for the Government Recognized tour operators and selected classified hotels for their guests visiting Kolkata to experience this biggest public art festival on earth.

A special thanks to the Tourism Department, Government of West Bengal for considering this super effective recommendation.
