Air India to maintain Vistara Experience post the merger

In a strategic move following the merger of Air India and Vistara, passengers can continue to enjoy Vistara’s renowned in-flight experience on select routes, now operated by Air India. Starting November 12, Vistara aircraft will be designated with a new four-digit Air India flight code beginning with ‘2’, allowing customers to easily identify them when booking via www.airindia.com. For instance, UK 955 will be rebranded as AI 2955.

Despite the rebranding, Vistara’s premium service—including its signature menu, cutlery, and crew—will remain unchanged on these aircraft. Passengers will also benefit from seamless access to over 90 global destinations and more than 800 additional locations through Air India’s codeshare and interline partners.

Loyal members of Club Vistara will automatically be transferred to Air India’s Flying Returns program, which will transform into the ‘Maharaja Club’ as part of the merger. In addition, Vistara’s high-quality catering will now be offered across Air India flights, enhancing the overall service experience.

Simultaneously, Air India continues to upgrade its narrowbody and widebody fleets. The addition of six new A350 aircraft is already enhancing long-haul flights, such as those between Delhi and London, with routes to New York soon to follow. The ongoing retrofit of Air India’s narrowbody A320neo fleet will deliver fully refurbished interiors by mid-2025, providing passengers with more luxurious seating, modern amenities, and refreshed cabin designs.

This merger and fleet upgrade represent Air India’s commitment to elevating the flying experience for today’s discerning travelers.
