Now that the world is opening up for vaccinated travellers, the government’s CoWin portal enabled users to link their vaccination certificates to passports. “Now, you can update your passport number in your vaccination certificate,” the official handle of the Aarogya Setu app tweeted.

The new facility aims to help in cases where a traveller fails to provide the passport as an official identification document during the COVID-19 vaccination.
The government also introduced a new feature on CoWin portal, which allows for a one-time name change to ensure that the name on the vaccine certificate and the passport is the same. “Entering passport number and requesting name change can only be done once, so please ensure there are no mistakes in entering the details,” the official handle of the Aarogya Setu app tweeted.
This comes days after the Central government announced new guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination, stating that those travelling abroad for education, jobs, or as part of the Indian contingent for the Tokyo Olympic Games, will have to get their vaccination certificates linked to passports.
Here’s how to add your passport number to your vaccine certificate:
Visit the official portal of CoWin — cowin.gov.in.
Click on the “Raise an Issue” button.
Under the drop-down that appears, click on the “Add Passport Details” option.
Enter your passport number and submit the details.
You will receive the new certificate in seconds.
