Indiatourism Mumbai , the regional office of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India in Western Region today organised an online screening film and quiz competition based on the life and times of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to celebrate the Rashtriya Ekta Divas (National Unity Day) on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
The event was jointly organised with the support of Films Division and the Dhi Project. The event was also in accordance with the country’s celebration of 75 years of India’s independence – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav – that honours the lives of our freedom fighters who fought for India’s freedom struggle.
In its continued endeavour to promote interesting destinations in India’s western region, Indiatourism, Mumbai today organised an engagement session on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel – Visionary and Architect of India. More popularly known as the Iron Man of India the purpose of this program was to make people aware of the great personality that was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Shri Venkatesan, Regional Director, India Tourism Mumbai, on this occasion said, “The Iron Man of India – Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel from the state of Gujarat was a great visionary and has been known as the architect of India – for unifying over 500 princely states into one nation. He played a key role in the freedom struggle of India and worked very closely with Mahatma Gandhi. We are privileged to have this opportunity to share his contribution with the students and citizens.”
Indiatourism Mumbai showcased an informative film produced by Films Division produced by Films Division, followed by an online quiz.
The event also showcased the Statue of Unity that is an impressive landmark commemorating Sardar Patel’s contribution to the unification of India. It is the tallest statue in the world and is located in the state of Gujarat, India, on the Narmada River in the Kevadiya , facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam. Located between the Mountain Ranges of Vindhyachal and Satpuda, this monument has many other attractive tourist spots in its proximity such as the Valley of Flowers, the Shoolpaneshwar Sanctuary and sacred temple, the Sardar Sarovar Dam and its water dykes, the scenic Zarvani Falls and majestic palaces of Rajpipla.
Indiatourism Mumbai organized the event and quiz in partnership with The Dhi Project as its knowledge partner for the event. The Dhi Project works towards making knowledge of India’s rich and ancient wisdom accessible to the world – through an understanding of India’s varied traditions, culture, philosophy, history, practices, texts, art forms, and architecture.
