According to an official, there were 15% more passengers at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in June than there were in May. Almost five lakh people passed through the LGBI Airport in Guwahati in June 2023, a significant rise from the same month the previous year, according to a representative for the facility, which is under the administration of the Adani Group. “Of the total, 2.95 lakh or so were travellers departing and the remaining were arriving. In comparison to June of last year, that represented a 15% overall rise.”
According to the official, the airport saw over 4.000 flight movements in June 2023, which was more than June 2022. The busiest airport in the Northeast handled a record number of travellers in May of this year as well, showing that air travel is experiencing a significant rebound following the pandemic period. “The LGBI Airport acts as a gateway to Northeast India along with its 32 domestic and two international destinations for passengers from Guwahati,” she continued. The spokesperson added that Singapore and Paro are the two overseas places, while Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Bengaluru are the top four domestic destinations from Guwahati. “Guwahati Airport anticipates steady development in the upcoming winter schedule, which will begin in October. During the winter, the rise in the number of passengers will sharpen.”
