MATATO AGM 2024/25 concludes with Re-Election of key leaders

The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) successfully concluded its Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the term 2024/25 on January 8, 2025. The meeting saw the re-election of key leaders to guide the association’s strategic activities and foster continued growth in the Maldivian tourism industry.

Abdulla Ghiyas Riyaz has been re-elected as the President of MATATO, continuing his dedicated service to the organization. Supporting him in leadership are Mohamed Khaleel and Mohamed Shaz, who retained their roles as Vice Presidents.

In addition to the presidency, several other executive positions were also reaffirmed through re-election. Abdulla Suood continues as the Secretary General, Ibrahim Didi as the Treasurer, with Ignaz Mansoor and Ibrahim Nizam serving as board members.

Joining them on the executive board are newly elected members Ahmed Arshad, Mohamed Maroof, and Asad Riza. These individuals will contribute to MATATO’s efforts in shaping the future of Maldives tourism, addressing key industry challenges, and promoting sustainable practices.

The AGM highlighted MATATO’s commitment to strengthening its presence within the local and international travel communities. The association will continue to play a vital role in supporting the Maldivian tourism sector, which remains one of the country’s primary economic pillars.
