Ayesha Nurain Janah, the chairperson of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), and board member Rafil Mohamed, who represented the MMPRC for the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), have both resigned from their positions. Additionally, Fathimath Thaufeeq has been dismissed from her role as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at MMPRC.
Nurain, who took office on December 27 last year, stated her main objective was to restructure and rebrand the corporation at the request of Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal. She highlighted the need to prioritize discussions and consider the opinions of all industry stakeholders. Nurain is a chartered accountant with over a decade of management experience and also serves as the vice-chair of Janah’s Hotels and Resort Investment Group.
Furthermore, Rafil Mohamed has also resigned from his position as an MMPRC board member. A source close to Rafil, who confirmed the news to Mirror, mentioned that he stepped down a couple of weeks ago due to dissatisfaction with certain board decisions.
