White Desert Antarctica announces launch of Wellness Dome

White Desert is excited to announce the planned addition of a ‘Wellness Dome’ to enhance the wellness offerings at their Whichaway Camp. This new feature will be situated overlooking the frozen lake and glacial ice fall, providing an immersive experience with expansive clear windows that showcase the breathtaking natural landscape of Antarctica. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in group activities or enjoy the space on a solitary basis, allowing for a deeper connection with themselves and the earth.

This dome will complement Whichaway’s existing sauna, and offer a truly unique and holistic approach to wellness in the harsh yet extraordinary environment that is Antarctica. To further enrich this wellness offering, White Desert will have a biokineticist on site to help guests align their bodies after their adventures outside of the camp. Additionally, a dedicated instructor will be available to guide guests through breathwork and meditation, nurturing both mind and soul in this incredible natural setting. The wellness dome is currently being designed and constructed close by to White Desert’s Headquarters in Cape Town and will be ready for the start of the next season in December 2024.

Whichaway Camp is uniquely positioned to provide an idyllic location for this wellness space. Located in this tranquil corner of Antarctica, it offers a sense of secluded peacefulness, making guests feel as though they are the only people on the planet, lonely yet mesmerising. The camp’s location on an ice field oasis, combined with the stunning ice formations, vibrant colours, and serene glacier views, provides an ideal backdrop for connecting with the earth and experiencing true wellness amidst nature’s wonders.

Whichaway Camp is the perfect place to experience wellness due to its serene Antarctic setting, offering unparalleled calmness and stunning natural beauty, ideal for relaxation and rejuvenation.
About White Desert Antarctica
White Desert was established by Co-founder, CEO and record-breaking polar explorer, Patrick Woodhead, in 2005. Born out of a desire to allow people other than scientists and polar explorers to see the wonders of the interior of Antarctica, the company has been established for 19 years and now employs 150 people from 17 different nationalities. Winner of multiple top-tier travel industry awards, the company operates out of South Africa on a global basis.
Founded with environmentally conscious principles at its core, White Desert was the first operator to build a luxury semi-permanent camp and to pioneer the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel in Antarctica. This year, White Desert is undergoing various exciting brand developments, including the launch of White Desert World, offering a new itinerary that takes advantage of the repositioning of the Basler DXQ from the Arctic to the Antarctic; the trip will take guests on an epic 10-12 day journey in the newly refurbished 1940’s style Basler, exploring remote destinations in South America. Additionally, the White Desert Foundation is launching; a significant project which will draw on three core pillars including supporting science, carbon reduction, and innovation. Aiming to better understand the impact of climate change and how we all, collectively, can do more to affect positive change.
