In celebration of Earth Day 2025, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi embraced the global theme “Our Power, Our Planet” with a meaningful blend of creativity and conservation. The resort hosted an art competition and a hands-on coral planting activity on April 22, 2025, highlighting its ongoing commitment to sustainability through its Sun Siyam Cares initiative.
The art competition invited students from neighboring islands — Velidhoo, Holhudhoo, and Kudafari — to showcase their environmental passion through original artwork. Designed to inspire the next generation of eco-conscious creators, the initiative gave young participants a platform to express their visions for a greener future. Participants competed across three age-based categories: Category 1 for Grades 4–6, Category 2 for Grades 7–9, and Category 3 for Grades 10–12. One winner was selected from each category, and the top 12 entries were invited to join the resort’s Earth Day celebrations. These winning artworks will be digitized and featured in the 2026 Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Sustainability Calendar, amplifying their message of hope and care for the planet.
Guests participated in a coral planting experience, highlighting the resort’s commitment to marine conservation and reef restoration in the Maldives. Sun Siyam Iru Fushi’s Earth Day celebration showcased that small, collaborative actions can lead to meaningful change.
